The most famous blogs in the world may not be political blogs. In fact, they may not even be located in the United States. Rather the most famous blogs in the world are probably located in places like China, where there is a broad coalition of people who speak the same language and are concerned with the same issues. That does not mean that English is not the most spoken language in the world. And there are quite a few English blogs that are quite popular, such as the My Little World Blog.
But world famous blogs come in all shapes and sizes. Some of the popular blogs are run or were started by famous comedians as a means by which they could keep in touch with their audiences. The worlds most popular blogs also include the punditocracy type blogs which perform fairly complicated analysis on a daily basis.
Of course, people should not think that blogging is the only form of communication that is out there in the world. There are all kinds of communication that have, today, become popular. Blogging is probably going to be a more popular activity in the future as other forms of media are crowded out by the world of blogging.
That being said, the most famous blogs in the world come in all different shapes and sizes. And it is for this reason that people continue to use these blogs to reach an audience that they would otherwise be unable to reach. Ironically, someone who starts a blog in his college dormroom has more ability to reach a broad audience than the Wall Street Journal had the potential for reaching people in 1880. Electronic media has made a potential audience of the entire world. Whether or not this is going to last remains to be seen. Nonetheless, starting a blog can be a challenge is a sea of noise. One needs to have sharpness and wit to succeed.
