One of the first pieces of maintenance that you should be doing is checking the air filter. Every furnace has an air filter, and it is used to clean the air before it goes into the home. Over time it will collect dust and other debris. Changing the filter is simple, however, you just need to make sure that you are buying the same filter as the one you are replacing.

After you have replaced the air filter you will also have to clean dust from the rest of the furnace. Furnaces use a lot of different wires and the dust will hurt their performance. Even if you don’t know what the different wires do, it’s a good idea to make sure that they are all in one piece.
